NOTE: CJUS Minor requirements have changed effective Fall 2017.
Requirements for Completion:
~ A minor in criminal justice is available to all undergraduates except criminal justice majors. The minor requires 18 approved semester hours including: CJUS 1100, 2340, and 12 semester hours of criminal justice electives (6 of these 12 hours must be at the upper-division (3000+) level or above). A grade point average of at least a 2.0 in the minor courses is required including at least a grade of C in CJUS 1100 and CJUS 2340.
Requirements to Declare:
~ To become a CJ Minor, you must have a 2.0 GPA [note: a 2.0 overall GPA and at least a 2.0 GPA in CJUS courses only are both required] and have a declared Major (cannot be Pre-Criminal Justice or Criminal Justice).
~ If you meet the 2 requirements above, you can send an email to this CJUS department email from your UNCC EMAIL to request admission to the minor. In this email, you must include your full name, student ID number, and the following statement: “I would like to add Criminal Justice as a minor.” The subject line must read: CJUS MINOR DECLARATION. If you do not use this subject line, your request may be missed.
* If you want us to drop your current minor, include that statement as well. (For example, "I would like to add Criminal Justice as a minor and drop my current minor of ________.") Do not include this statement if you intend to double minor.
~ We will begin processing change of minors beginning Monday, October 2, 2017. Change of minors will be processed in time for Spring 2018 registration. Check your transcript regularly to see when the change has been made. Students will not receive any type of notification when the change is made, therefore it is the student's responsibility to monitor their status!
